Background: The Thorp School District was awarded a grant from Washington State OSPI to investigate Balanced Calendar options over the 2022-2023 school year. During the 2022-2023 school year staff, students and school board members investigated Balanced Calendar options. During the February 2023 School Board meeting Balanced Calendar committee's made presentations of the options they investigated. It was voted on by the school board that the 4 day school week may be the best option for the district but can't continue due to no available 4 day waivers at the May 2023 School Board meeting. The School Board put the official decision on hold for one year with the hopes of reexamining the possibility of obtaining a 4 day waiver.
