Career & Technical Education
Thorp Schools' Career and Technical Education (CTE) program is continuously evolving to meet the diverse needs of its students. At Thorp, students benefit from a comprehensive curriculum designed not only to prepare them for traditional academic pathways but also to equip them with practical skills essential for real-world careers. The program's agricultural courses cover a wide range of topics, including farming techniques, natural resource management, and sustainable practices, offering students a hands-on grasp of the agricultural industry. Conversely, courses focused on business and finance provide valuable insights into entrepreneurship, business leadership, and financial literacy, empowering students with the knowledge necessary to thrive in today's competitive business environment. Additionally, Thorp Schools' course offerings extend to areas such as information technology, construction, and health sciences, further broadening students' skill sets and career options. This commitment to enhancing the CTE program underscores Thorp Schools' dedication to providing a well-rounded education that meets the evolving needs of students and prepares them for success in their chosen fields.
CTE Program Student Organizations
CTSO stands for Career and Technical Student Organizations. CTSOs provide relevant, engaging programs that improve student achievement, reduce dropout rates, and help students understand global competition. Students that participate in CTSOs have higher levels of academic and civic engagement, career self-efficacy, and more employability skills than other students according to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
Thorp School offers two of the eight Washington State recognized CTSOs: Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and our own local CTSO, Thorp Future Science Leaders of America (FSLA).
